Invitation to a Descent

December 2012

Suspension is a pursuit that combines the fantastic aspiration to occupy an impossible plane and a kind of refusal of or triumph over expected ways of moving and being. To achieve suspension, I design and create prosthetics to be used in combination with existing structures. In Invitation to a Descent, I float parallel to the floor enabled by a garment, hundreds of strings, and a fabric ceiling. Scissors invite the audience to choreograph both the path and speed of my descent.
