Up to the Elbows in What They Call Adventures
12 & 13 February 2016
IN>TIME Performance Festival, The Bridge, Chicago
A choreographic project spurred by two sources: historical patents for inventions that attempted to grace the body with fantastical capabilities, like flight, and Cervantes’s Don Quixote, which muses on how the fictional and fantastic shapes reality. Choreography springs from its proximity to patent-inspired sculptures and Cervantes’s syntax; performers sally forth, striving for synchronized gesticulations; and intertextual writing trots alongside the action as fast as its donkey can carry it. Onward!
